Kevin Fiala
Fiala is on injured reserve with a lower-leg injury and, per Laviolette on Oct. 29, is week-to-week, so he is out until further notice and I found no return date.
Role
His role when healthy this season is unconfirmed, because I found no current reporting on it. The Morning Puck's page for the Oct. 31 game against Buffalo (read Nov. 2) has him on no line or power-play unit. That is consistent with the injury. In that game Panarin skated on the top line with Laferriere and Chromiak. Byfield centered the second line, and the power-play unit I read was built around Panarin, Byfield, Laferriere, Gustafsson and Chromiak. Daily Faceoff's Kings page loaded but showed a July 2025 offseason snapshot, so it tells me nothing current. I can't say where Fiala slots on his return, or whether he gets his old power-play spot back. Last season he had 17 power-play points in 56 games and 1071 minutes of total ice time, which is the only usage evidence I hold.
No current analyst argument was found. The case for him rests on last season's record: 40 points in 56 games, 17 of them on the power play, and 147 shots. If the injury stays short, he returns to a team whose Oct. 31 lineup has no Fiala on it, so there may be room for him on the top six and the power play. I have not confirmed that.
No current analyst argument was found. "Week-to-week" gives no firm return date, and a lower-leg injury can drag on. The Kings have used Panarin, Laferriere, Chromiak and Byfield in prominent offensive roles without him, so his spot is not guaranteed on return. That is my reading of one lineup page, not something an analyst reported.
Where analysts split
I found no analyst disagreement. The only open question is how long the injury lasts, and the club has given no date beyond week-to-week.
Injury: IR: assessed avoid
Lower leg fracture recovery, week-to-week
Fiala is still working through recovery steps before he's even in consideration to return, with coach Laviolette indicating multiple steps remain; no return is imminent despite the expected 11/7 date.
What would change this: Laviolette or the team confirming he's cleared for contact or a practice window opens up before return
Research confidence: thin. Outlooks are grounded in web search over current reporting and refreshed through the season.
