Brandon Williams
Brandon Williams is a speed-driven backup guard whose 20-point spot start on Saturday came only because Curry and Podziemski sat the second night of a back-to-back, and he should be a bench rotation piece now that they are back.
Role
NBC Sports/Rotoworld (Oct. 25) says he comes off the bench Monday vs. Denver if cleared, after starting Saturday vs. Phoenix beside Richard, Santos, Lendeborg and Ike. Through two regular-season games he averaged 13.5 minutes (RotoWire via Fox Sports), before the Saturday start. Usage rate and a current minutes split were not found. Competition for his minutes includes Will Richard, per a preseason FanSided projection; the Warriors also get Curry and Podziemski back Monday. Whether he sits back-to-backs has not been reported. Last season's line (3 GP, 153 MIN) is our data, not a Warriors sample.
He is one of the fastest guards on the roster. The SF Chronicle's preseason piece said he earned ballhandling minutes in non-Curry lineups with rim pressure and creation. He scored 20 on Saturday with five assists and two steals. NBC's Oct. 25 note rates his chance of sticking in the rotation above Charles Bassey's even with the full guard group back. Fox/RotoWire suggests more run is possible if Golden State's season slides.
Both Williams's spot starts came from rest absences, and RotoWire called the Saturday start likely a one-off. Preseason coverage flagged his shooting: FanSided said he is not a shooter, with a career 3-point rate of 28 percent, and SF Chronicle said his staying power depends on controlling the ball and hitting jumpers. FanSided pictured the role as deep rotation work at about 15 minutes a game. Back soreness, listed as probable, adds minor availability risk.
Where analysts split
The open question is whether he holds steady second-unit ballhandling minutes once Curry, Podziemski and the other regulars are healthy, or whether the 20-point game was a rest-night outlier. The sources I found do not split sharply. They mostly agree on a bench role and differ on how much run he gets beyond that.
