Immanuel Quickley
Quickley is Toronto's starting point guard and primary playmaker, but he is probably the fourth scoring option behind Leonard, Barrett and Barnes.
Role
He started at point guard in the preseason and in the first games of the regular season, and Raptors Republic's projected lineup for the Oct. 25 game at Minnesota had him in the first five (checked Oct. 26). A HotTakes item on Sunday's game says Toronto started Ja'Kobe Walter in place of Leonard beside Quickley, Barrett, Barnes and Poeltl. That conflicts with Raptors Republic's projection of Leonard, so I could not confirm the actual starting five. Reported minutes: 28 in the opener against the Bulls, a 135-92 win, in which he had 23 points and 7 assists. He played about 20 per game in the preseason (RotoWire via CBS, Oct. 17 and 21), and RotoWire has him sitting the second half of that blowout. HotTakes has him at 17.5 points and 6.5 assists through two games. Backups on FantasyData's depth chart are Jamal Shead, then Alijah Martin, but I did not read that page as a live depth chart. Nothing found says he sits back-to-backs. The wire's Friday preseason rest is a preseason note only.
Leonard's return and the veteran core let Quickley run the offense without carrying it. He posted 23 points, 7 assists and 2 steals on the opening night, and RotoWire says he is still tasked with commanding the offense. Fox Sports cites a strong assist-to-turnover ratio last season, which supports steady playmaking.
Leonard, Barrett and Barnes all draw high usage, so Quickley's shot volume and scoring ceiling are capped. The Athletic (via RotoWire) says he faces pressure entering the season alongside Barrett, and Fox describes him as a polarizing figure because of his contract. He also missed time late last season with a hamstring injury that carried into the playoffs. In our data he has only 3 games last season, so that card is a thin base for judging his workload this year. Blowout games have also cut his minutes.
Where analysts split
The question is how much usage Quickley keeps now that Leonard is back. Optimists point to his playmaking and assist volume, while skeptics see a fourth scoring option whose minutes shrink in blowouts. A smaller question is who starts at small forward, Leonard or Walter, and I could not settle it from the sources.
