Jalen Suggs
Suggs is a defense-first starting guard who is sidelined with a mild right knee bone bruise, so any value this season depends on when he returns and how his minutes are managed.
Role
Nothing current describes his minutes or usage once healthy. Roundtable.io (checked 2 November) calls the injury a blow to Orlando's starting lineup, so he was a starter. ESPN reports he averaged 12.6 points, 3.8 assists and 3.4 rebounds over his six-year career. No beat writer or tracker I found gives a replacement starter or a minutes split while he is out. Roundtable.io says Anthony Black is in line for an opportunity, but that is its opinion and not a reported rotation. Banchero (high ankle sprain, 4 to 6 weeks per Yahoo) and Jonathan Isaac, Noah Penda and Izaiyah Nelson (per a Globely Raptors preview) are also listed out, so the rotation is unsettled. I did not check any rotation tracker or depth chart. Whether he sits back-to-backs has not been reported.
The injury is a mild bone bruise. An MRI showed no other structural damage, and the team will re-evaluate him after two weeks. Orlando Magic Daily called the news encouraging. If he returns on the early end, he comes back to a team missing Banchero, which could mean more offensive responsibility.
His durability is the concern. NBC Sports notes he has played more than 57 games only once in six seasons (75 in 2023-24), and ESPN says injuries limited him to 92 games over the past two years. He played just 3 games last season. His knee buckled on a non-contact play. Orlando Magic Daily says he will be out longer than the two weeks, but gives no reason or timeline. The two-week mark is only a re-evaluation date, not a return date.
Where analysts split
The open question is how long the absence runs past the two-week re-evaluation. Most outlets present the re-evaluation as the minimum. Orlando Magic Daily alone says flatly that he will be out longer. I found no analyst who gave a return date or compared his minutes with Black's.
Injury: Out: assessed avoid
Mild bone bruise, right knee, out at least two weeks
Out with a defined return window of roughly two weeks (re-evaluation around Nov. 10), so he should not be rostered as an active starter during that stretch; no structural damage reported, which is a positive longer-term sign.
What would change this: Re-evaluation update around the two-week mark (near Nov. 10) and any change in his practice/participation status.
Research confidence: thin. Outlooks are grounded in web search over current reporting and refreshed through the season.
