Jordan Poole
Poole is a bench guard on a short leash for now: three games into 2026-27 he is playing a modest reserve role, and RotoWire (Oct 25) calls him a non-factor in standard fantasy leagues.
Role
He has come off the bench in all three regular-season games. His minutes were 14:39 vs. IND, 19:10 at UTA and 22:30 at DEN, which averages 18.8 per RotoWire, CBS and Fox. He has averaged 7.3 points and 4.0 assists on 16.7% shooting. A Yahoo opening-night projection gave him only 10 minutes, and it listed Dejounte Murray at 22, Saddiq Bey at 18, Bennedict Mathurin at 16 and Karlo Matkovic and Derik Queen at 12 each. Fox Sports says his backcourt competition includes Murray and Jeremiah Fears, and Mathurin crowds the shooting guard spot off the bench. I did not find a confirmed starting five or a back-to-back rest plan, and I did not read a live rotation page.
He is a proven scorer who can get hot quickly. Last season he scored 21 and 26 in games where he got 23 to 26 minutes, and he averaged 16.1 points over an eight-game stretch after returning from injury. His minutes rose from 15 to 19 to 22 over his first three games, and he had 7 assists at Denver. If Fears or the wings struggle, he could get a larger scoring role.
He fell out of favor with the coaching staff last season and was moved to the bench in April. This season he has shot 16.7% over three games, and Yahoo wrote that his season-opener shooting hurt his outlook. He also has Mathurin, Fears and Murray ahead of or alongside him, and the preseason expectation was a limited reserve workload.
Where analysts split
The question is whether he gets steady backup-guard minutes or stays a fringe rotation piece behind Murray, Fears and Mathurin. Yahoo projected about 10 minutes for opening night, while the actual minutes were higher and rising (22 at Denver). RotoWire (Oct 25) reads the role as muted and limited. I found no analyst arguing he will start.
