Grimes is a rotation wing for the Lakers who has played about 30 minutes in the two regular-season games I could confirm, and whether he starts is still undecided.

Yahoo's game log (indexed, not fetched) shows 30:34 on 10/23 against the Clippers and 27:28 on 10/21 against the Warriors. CBS and Yahoo list 11.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game. After starting all four preseason games, he came off the bench at least on Friday, per a CBS headline ("Bench role Friday") and a Silver Screen and Roll recap. Fox Sports says Redick started Matisse Thybulle over him. Silver Screen notes Grimes closed that game. Rookie Cameron Carr was named as a candidate for the wing spot in CBS/RotoWire's preseason analysis. I found no usage-rate figure and no back-to-back rest plan.
He fits the two-way wing the Lakers need beside Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves. Jovan Buha of The Athletic reported in August that his defense could matter as much as his scoring. Redick praised his defensive commitment in camp. He has played closing minutes even as a reserve, so the trust is there whether or not he starts. Silver Screen and Roll's recap also asks how much longer he will stay out of the starting lineup.
The starting wing spot is the Lakers' most uncertain position, per RotoWire/CBS in October. Playing Grimes there leaves the team smaller than most opponents, which is why Carr and Thybulle are in the mix. Reaves and Doncic handle most of the creation, so his scoring and assist ceiling may be limited. His preseason shooting was uneven, including 1-4 from three in the last game I saw reported.
