Ryan Rollins
Rollins is Milwaukee's starting point guard and primary ball handler on a rebuilt roster, though the evidence I found is mostly aggregators and the sources are uneven.
Role
Bleacher Report's starting-lineup ranking (about two days old) lists him at PG next to Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kyle Kuzma and Myles Turner. A hottakes.com item (about one day old) cites Underdog NBA for the same five against the 76ers. It also says he scored 24 on 22 shots in a recent loss. Dairyland Express (about five days old) says he is expected to carry a significant workload as the starter. Fox Sports' player page carries a RotoWire-style note that he returned from a one-game rest absence, but the page doesn't date it, so I can't place it. That page also says Kevin Porter Jr. was waived, which removes a former rival for the job. I found no published minutes or usage target for this season. Last season's reporting has him around 31 to 32 minutes a game as a starter, but I have no current minutes split. The Wednesday preseason rest in your wire note looks like routine preseason management. I did not find any regular-season rest plan or back-to-back policy.
He is the lead guard with the ball in his hands, and a Milwaukee team without Giannis Antetokounmpo needs his creation and defense. Coverage from last season has him averaging 17.3 points, 5.6 assists, 4.6 rebounds and 1.5 steals in 74 games, shooting 40.6% from three. A Fox Sports note says an uptick in his scoring is almost inevitable. Dairyland Express describes him as the player the offense runs through.
His big numbers came on a bad team, and Bleacher Report ranks this starting five last in the league. A Kots Show piece notes Milwaukee was outscored by 173 points with him on the floor last season. Herro and Kuzma will take shots alongside him, and he may draw tougher defensive attention. The 24 points on 22 shots shows the efficiency risk. One Fox note says he had the worst plus-minus among Bucks starters in a preseason game.
Where analysts split
The open question is whether he can keep last season's production as the clear lead guard now that Herro and Kuzma are alongside him. The optimists expect more usage and scoring as the primary creator. The skeptics think he may lose some efficiency and rank him as a product of a losing team's opportunity. Nobody I found disputes that he starts.
Research confidence: thin. Outlooks are grounded in web search over current reporting and refreshed through the season.
