Alvin Kamara
Kamara is a 31-year-old passing-down back in a crowded, rotating New Orleans backfield, and his role could shrink further if Travis Etienne returns from injured reserve.

Early-season snap shares were low: Kamara played 26% of snaps in one game, and since Week 4 he has averaged 32%, per RotoBaller's note on FantasyFootballCalculator (about 15 days old). In the Steelers game, Draft Sharks (1 day old) credits him with a 54% route share, 58% of third-down snaps, every carry inside the 10 and 75% of two-minute RB snaps. ESPN's Sunday roundup says he led the backfield in snaps, routes, touches (13) and fantasy points. His competition is Kendre Miller, who has handled more of the early-down work, and rookie CJ Donaldson. Donaldson led the backfield in snaps in earlier weeks, but left the Steelers game with a shoulder injury and was ruled out at halftime. Etienne (hamstring) is eligible to return from IR after the bye. I did not find a published depth chart or an official snap count, so none of these figures come from one.
With Donaldson out, Kamara got the pass-catching and goal-line work against Pittsburgh. He caught all seven targets for a season-high 57 yards, with a 32% target rate per route run. Draft Sharks calls him a PPR flex and says the receiving role is his when healthy. It also names Carolina in Week 10 as his best matchup for a bigger day. Rapoport earlier reported he was expected to "carry the load" while Etienne was out.
His rushing has been poor, at 3.0 yards per carry on 41 carries across six games, and the Saints' ground game produced 18 yards on 17 attempts against the Steelers. Reporting (FOX/RotoWire) says he has been limited in practice with a back issue for several weeks, with a knee issue noted earlier, and he has had low snap shares. Miller has taken early-down work and the late-game work in some games. If Etienne is cleared after the bye, the backfield gets more crowded. NBC and RotoBaller have called him touchdown-dependent and hard to trust.
Where analysts split
The split is whether the Steelers game was a real role or a one-off. One side sees a third-down and two-minute receiving role that holds up in PPR (Draft Sharks, ESPN). The other side points to a season of low snap shares, a back injury and a coming Etienne return that would push him back down the rotation (RotoBaller, NBC). Nobody I found has reported what the Saints plan for Etienne's workload once he is back.
