Chuba Hubbard
Hubbard is Carolina's clear lead back for the rest of this season, with a workload that has risen every week while Jonathon Brooks is out.

FantasyData's depth chart snippet, which I did not fetch, lists Hubbard first and AJ Dillon second. FantasyData described him as the workhorse with Brooks (core) on injured reserve. Its Week 3 note, against Cleveland, had him at 84% of snaps and 82% of backfield opportunities, plus most of the pass-catching work. Carries have gone up every week, and he has had 19 or more in three straight games, including 28 against Philadelphia (tied for his career high). Yahoo counted 27 touches in the first two games and 73 in the last three. In the passing game he is a minor piece: one catch on two targets for one yard in Week 6. I found no current snap-share figure for Weeks 4 to 6.
Volume plus efficiency. He has back-to-back 100-yard games, and the Yahoo and FantasyPros notes both say he is the main feature of the backfield. FantasyPros' consensus ranks him RB11 for Week 7 and RB12 for the rest of the season, with a range of RB9 to RB14 (only 3 experts on the rest-of-season rank). Draft Sharks says to keep playing him, citing upcoming matchups at Green Bay and New Orleans that it rates strongly positive.
His workload depends on Brooks being out. Yahoo ties the touch increase to Brooks' core injury and calls him more of a high-end RB2 against Tampa Bay's run defense in Week 7. His receiving role is small in recent games, so there is little to fall back on if the carries or game script turn against him. The 2025 coverage I found shows the Panthers split the backfield when a second back played well, and Hubbard was injury-prone then. I did not find current reporting on whether the same risk applies this year.
Where analysts split
The disagreement is how much of the workload is permanent. Yahoo ties it to Brooks' absence and treats it as a ceiling that could fall if he returns. FantasyPros and Draft Sharks treat Hubbard as the established feature back. Within that, outlets differ on the Week 7 matchup against Tampa Bay: Yahoo's Week 7 rankings piece calls him a flex or RB2 sleeper, while FantasyPros' consensus ranks him RB11. I found no Brooks return timeline.
