Brian Robinson Jr.

Consensus #197 · RB63Week 9: vs CIN, 21st vs RBOutUpdated Oct 27

Brian Robinson Jr. is Bijan Robinson's veteran backup and short-yardage complement. The wire report (Oct 26) lists him out with a hamstring injury, so his role is on hold until he is cleared.

Role

Backup behind Bijan Robinson. Fox Sports shows 42 carries for 211 yards and four TDs over six games, plus five catches on six targets. He had 14 carries in the Week 4 win over New Orleans (Oct 5) and 10 carries in Week 3 at Green Bay. SI reported about three days ago that no other RB had played an offensive snap for Atlanta this season and that no other RB was on its unofficial depth chart. Heavy reported that Khalil Herbert was the backup in Week 7, when Robinson missed the game after two straight missed practices. I found no snap-share figure for 2026.

The case for

He is the only real change-of-pace option behind Bijan, and he profiles as a short-yardage, between-the-tackles back like Tyler Allgeier, who left in free agency. He scored three rushing TDs against the Saints and has four TDs overall. Whenever he is healthy, he has no other rostered backup competing for that work, apart from the injury fill-in Herbert. Reporting also describes a flexible backfield that could give him more than goal-line work.

The case against

He is a clear No. 2, and Fox Sports calls him a safety blanket for Bijan's owners. His receiving work is minimal at six targets in six games. He split time in a backup role in San Francisco, where he played just 20.5% of snaps in 2025, the lowest of his career. The hamstring injury now puts his availability in doubt, and his touchdown value depends on Atlanta's scoring.

Where analysts split

Broad agreement that he is the Falcons' No. 2 behind Bijan. The open questions are health (the hamstring) and whether his touchdown work holds up. CBS/Rotowire said he could mute Bijan's TD upside, while Fox Sports says he mostly serves as a safety blanket. I found no return date.

Questionable with hamstring issue

Report simply lists him as out with an expected return date of 2026-11-08; no detail on severity is given, so treat as unavailable for the upcoming game.

What would change this: Practice participation report or official status change ahead of the return date.

Research confidence: reported. Outlooks are grounded in web search over current reporting and refreshed through the season.
