Jaylen Wright
Wright is a thin-sample, split-role back in a Miami backfield that lost De'Von Achane for the season, and the reporting does not show him owning the lead job over Ollie Gordon II.
Role
Achane tore his ACL in Week 3 and is out for the year (Yahoo/Heavy, early October). Miami's official depth chart listed Wright as RB1 ahead of Gordon (PlayerProfiler and Rotoballer, Oct 1), but Rotoballer noted that doesn't mean Miami is handing him the backfield. A Yahoo piece dated today says Gordon "has been the bellcow" while Wright has taken some snaps. Carlos Washington Jr. is also bouncing between the 53-man roster and practice squad. The Fox Sports player page shows Wright at 14 carries for 28 yards, with no touchdowns, but that line may predate his latest games. I found no current snap-share or target-share figure. He had only 8 career receptions before this season, per Phin Phanatic, and Fox says he was questionable going into the Bengals game and was active. The same page carries a headline saying the Bengals won 31-24, and I did not find his box-score line from that game.
He is the speed and burst back. PlayerProfiler cites a 96th-percentile Speed Score and 94th-percentile Burst Score, and says he has more big-play upside than Gordon. He was on top of the official depth chart after Achane went down. Phin Phanatic frames this as his chance to show he can be a lead back, and a Fox Sports waiver-wire debate piece argued he was the Miami back to add over Gordon. He is healthy again after the foot and stinger issues.
The depth chart hasn't turned into touches. Heavy wrote about Wright doing little in Gordon's big Week 4 game, and Wright himself vowed patience and said Miami went with the "hot hand" (Yahoo/Palm Beach Post). Phin Phanatic notes his offensive snap share has never topped 22% in a season. He has barely contributed as a receiver or pass protector, and Fox says his role comes after recent competition for snaps with Gordon. Washington's presence adds more clutter.
Where analysts split
Whether the depth-chart RB1 label or Gordon's in-game usage decides the lead role. Depth-chart and profile-based takes (PlayerProfiler, Rotoballer, Phin Phanatic) lean toward Wright getting a bigger share. Game-flow coverage (Heavy, Yahoo's latest) has Gordon as the primary back. I found no source with a current snap split after Wright's return from injury.
