Justice Hill
Hill is Baltimore's RB2 and passing-down back behind Derrick Henry, with a real snap share but few carries, and his workload rises mainly when the Ravens trail or if Henry is hurt.
Role
Rotowire's snap table, as indexed in search and not fetched, shows Henry on 151 snaps (59%) and Hill on 103 (41%) among the two backs. Rotowire's game notes have him on 31 of 68 snaps in Week 1 and 27 of 58 in Week 2. Through four games he has 14 carries for 60 yards and five catches for 44 yards on six targets, so his touches are small. A FantasyData depth chart snippet, also not fetched, lists Henry first, Hill second and Rasheen Ali third. Ali is described as a distant third. Rookie Adam Randall started the year on injured reserve with a designation to return, and the page does not say whether he has come back.
He is the clear second back and the Ravens' primary pass-catching and pass-protection back. A Yahoo Sports preview said Jackson trusts him in protection. His snap share is much closer to Henry's than a typical backup's. Rotowire says his role likely expands if Baltimore is chasing points. ESPN's preseason projection said Henry plays only about half the snaps, which leaves room for Hill on passing downs.
The touches are thin: 14 carries and six targets in four games, and just one carry in the latest game. Henry keeps the early-down and short-yardage work. Rotowire also says it is unclear whether Hill could hold up as a starter, so the handcuff case may not apply if Henry misses time. FantasyData says his value is capped as Henry's backup and that he is unlikely to have standalone value.
Where analysts split
The split is whether snaps turn into touches. Snap share is high, but carries and targets are low. Some outlets expect a steady complementary receiving role. Others say his usage depends on game script, and that he has little consistent role while Henry is healthy. Analysts also disagree on whether he could take over if Henry were out. Rotowire doubts it. I did not find the opposing view stated directly.
