RJ Harvey
Harvey is a pass-catching back in a three-man Denver backfield, and the rookie Jonah Coleman's return from injury cut into his snaps in Week 7.
Role
In Week 7 at Arizona he played 16 of 61 offensive snaps (26%) per Athlon/PFF, behind Jonah Coleman (30) and ahead of J.K. Dobbins (14). Michael Florio's usage line had him at 3 carries, 8 routes and 2 targets. Earlier this season he out-snapped Dobbins 29 to 21 in Week 4 (44% to 32%), but Dobbins out-snapped him 32 to 23 in Week 5 (FantasyData). Through about Week 6, Dobbins led the team in carries (81, roughly four times Harvey's total) and had 12 red zone opportunities to Harvey's 5 (SI). Harvey's value has come through the air: before Week 7 he had 20 catches for 132 yards after a 10-for-10 game against the 49ers. No Week 8 depth chart was read.
He is efficient and explosive on a few touches, and the wire note shows it: 2 catches for 54 yards and a TD, including a 52-yard screen. He has been a steady receiving target all year, he has out-snapped Dobbins in some weeks, and the Dobbins trade rumors (Heavy) and Dobbins' frustration after Week 7 suggest the backfield could keep changing.
His snaps fell to 26% once Coleman returned, he got only 3 carries, and he is inefficient on the ground (FantasyData had him at 3.7 yards per carry). Dobbins keeps the goal-line and early-down carries. A three-back split with a rookie taking the largest share limits his touch volume, and a 52-yard screen touchdown on 2 targets is not a repeatable workload.
Where analysts split
Whether Coleman's 50% snap share in Week 7 is the new lead role or a one-game return from injury, and whether Harvey keeps a stable third-down and receiving role in a three-way split. Coverage I found is mixed: before Week 7 it treated Harvey as trending up, and after Week 7 it centered on Coleman. I did not find an explicit analyst debate about Harvey himself.

Harvey is on injured reserve and must miss a minimum of four games, with the earliest return Dec. 6 against Miami. Dobbins and Coleman will handle the Broncos backfield in the meantime.
