Week 1 Sunday: Kamara and Bowers Out, Nabers Still Murky
Alvin Kamara is inactive, Brock Bowers is out, and Malik Nabers' status stays unclear into Monday night. Here's who plays and who replaces them.
Ruled out this morning
Alvin Kamara (knee, MCL) is inactive at Detroit. He practiced fully Friday and still didn't make it, and Etienne had already taken nearly all the early-down camp reps — this was trending badly even before the inactive list landed.
Brock Bowers is out after a meniscus trim. The Raiders think Week 2 at the Chargers is live, so don't cut him, but he's not helping you today.
Josh Jacobs remains on the Commissioner's Exempt List with a possible suspension looming — treat this as open-ended, not week-to-week. A.J. Brown is on IR with a right high-ankle sprain, roughly six weeks. Isiah Pacheco (back, IR) has no timetable per Brad Holmes. Jordyn Tyson is on IR with a hamstring. Zach Charbonnet is on reserve/PUP and can't return before Week 5. Jalen McMillan is doubtful with a knee; plan on him being inactive. TreVeyon Henderson (ankle) and Jordan James (coach's decision) were already inactive Thursday.
Malik Nabers is questionable off ACL/meniscus and Schefter calls his status "murky at best." That's a Monday night game — you'll need a contingency, not hope.
Active — go ahead and start them
Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins both carry no designation against Tampa. Higgins logged full practices Wednesday through Friday on the heel; Chase was full after the August knee scare. Start both without a thought.
Rome Odunze is officially active despite the calf, with no snap limit expected. Emeka Egbuka is "full go" per Todd Bowles, and with McMillan doubtful his route share only grows. Zay Flowers was a full participant Thursday after the hamstring — normal workload at Indianapolis. Jakobi Meyers has no designation on the thumb.
Breece Hall has no designation and Frank Reich said there's no rep count coming unless the staff hands one down — workhorse usage at Tennessee. Ashton Jeanty says the ankle feels "really good" and he'll play. Jeremiyah Love is questionable but expected to suit up; just know a month off plus Allgeier's presence means the snap share may be capped.
One caveat: Alec Pierce plays, but Jeremy Fowler reports it won't be his usual full allotment after a week of limited practice. Discount him, don't bench him.
The pivot by position
Lost Kamara? Jonathan Taylor and De'Von Achane are the cleanest healthy floors in the pool, with James Cook and Chase Brown behind them. Derrick Henry works if you need touchdown equity over receptions.
Lost Bowers? Trey McBride is the top healthy tight end available; Tyler Warren and Colston Loveland are the next tier. Skip George Kittle as a fix — he plays, but San Francisco already managed his snaps Thursday on the Achilles and he caught two of five.
If Nabers ends up inactive, the healthy WR shelf is Jaxon Smith-Njigba, CeeDee Lamb, Justin Jefferson and Drake London. Rashee Rice is the aggressive swing.
Quarterback needs are thin only if you were on Sam Darnold, who's nursing a glute and expected out with Drew Lock starting. Josh Allen, Drake Maye, Joe Burrow and Lamar Jackson are all clean.
The late games
The Thursday and Friday games are done — McCaffrey (10-68 rushing, five catches), Puka Nacua (5-74), Kyren Williams (11-41 and a score) and Mike Evans (6-49, TD) are all in the books.
Inactives for the 20:25 UTC window aren't out yet. That covers Jeanty vs. Miami, Love at the Chargers, and the Packers backfield at Minnesota. Love in particular is the one to check at the 90-minute mark — questionable tags with a month of rust don't always resolve the optimistic way.
Nabers is Monday night against Dallas. You have a full day, so line up a replacement now rather than waiting on a report that may not clarify until the list drops. The material on his likely snap count if he plays is thin — nobody has committed to anything.
