Week 4 Injury Report: Jefferson Day-to-Day, Hall and Williams Fading

Who's trending out, who's a routine start, and the real game-time decisions for Week 4, plus the Thursday night lock in Cleveland.

Trending out

Breece Hall (thigh) did not practice Wednesday and Aaron Glenn called him week-to-week. Plan on Braelon Allen as the Jets' lead back at Chicago and start Hall only if Thursday or Friday reverses the picture, which nothing yet suggests.

Caleb Williams carries a Grade 2 hamstring strain described as a 3-to-4-week issue. He didn't take part in Wednesday's walkthrough and Ben Johnson said a Week 4 starter decision is already made, with Keenum and Bagent in play. Which of the two it is has not been confirmed in what we have.

Dallas Goedert (MCL) skipped the walkthrough and is doubtful again. Grant Calcaterra is the fallback in Philadelphia. Done for now: De'Von Achane (ACL, IR), A.J. Brown (IR, ineligible to practice until Week 6 at earliest), Jayden Reed (neck, IR), Jaxson Dart (knee surgery, season), Alec Pierce (heel, IR), Jonathon Brooks (core surgery, roughly six weeks), Baker Mayfield (thumb, about three weeks), Travis Etienne (hamstring, out), Jordan Mason (IR), De'Zhaun Stribling (IR), and Josh Jacobs, who remains on the Commissioner's Exempt List. Zach Charbonnet may practice Thursday to open a 21-day window; that is not an activation.

Routine. Start them.

Josh Allen practiced Wednesday with no protection on the knee and no designation. Start him. Same for Jaylen Waddle, a full participant after a precautionary boot, and Drake Maye, listed with a right shoulder but a full participant.

D'Andre Swift has no designation and just went for 20 carries and 84 yards. Saquon Barkley practiced fully and will wear protective gear for the stinger: lead-back usage, start him. Lamar Jackson was limited with a back issue but joined practice and neither the coach nor the reporting puts Sunday in doubt.

Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears both sat Wednesday, and Brian Saleh said there's no concern about either for Sunday at Baltimore. Note the Pollard paperwork lists ankle in one place and foot in another. Jakobi Meyers (thumb) and DJ Moore (shoulder/AC) were limited and are expected to play. Puka Nacua was limited; McVay expects him to play.

Game-time decisions and the pivot

Justin Jefferson (ankle) is the big one. No practice Wednesday, day-to-day, imaging clean. If he sits, you are not replacing WR1 volume: go to a healthy starter you already own. Ja'Marr Chase, Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Amon-Ra St. Brown are the tier.

Nico Collins was limited Wednesday in his first practice back after two missed games. Encouraging, not clearable yet. He needs a clean Thursday and Friday. Mike Evans (rib strain) did not practice and Shanahan said only that he "may" practice later in the week: treat him as a coin flip. Rachaad White (shoulder) sat Wednesday entirely and is a genuine question for the London game.

Zay Flowers was limited and was capped at 33% of snaps last week even while playing; expect managed volume again. DeVonta Smith missed the walkthrough, but the same pattern last week resolved into full practice and no designation. Jayden Daniels (elbow) was limited, which is progress, not clearance. Jalen Coker (quad) was a non-participant but is called day-to-day. Bucky Irving (glute), Ladd McConkey (foot) and Jadarian Price (chest) were all limited with nothing yet pointing to an absence. If you need a pivot at WR, Parker Washington, Drake London and Malik Nabers are the healthy names.

Thursday night

Steelers at Browns kicks off first, so these lock before the rest of the board. Rico Dowdle (toe) is ruled out for a second straight game after being unable to practice at all on the short week.

That leaves Jaylen Warren as the workhorse in Pittsburgh. He is the one clear start-with-confidence move in this game. Our material is thin on other Thursday night designations, so we are not going to guess at them.
